Lakewood Ranch Gets a
New Place to Play
A new bowling and family entertainment center will soon be under
construction in Lakewood Centre, located on the northeast corner of
Center Ice Parkway and Lakewood Ranch Boulevard. The new center will
be owned and operated by Dick and Tom Hubbard of Hubbard
Entertainment, LLC, owners of the successful Sarasota Lanes bowling
center, located on Fruitville Road.
The new 55,000 SF bowling and family entertainment center will
incorporate state-of-the-art technology with a modern, sophisticated
design. The new center will offer 40 lanes of bowling featuring
computer scoring, which automatically tallies scores with
easy-to-read, animated graphics. Designed by award winning architect
Steve Scheirman, of Scheirman Associates Architects of Dallas,
Texas, the center will be a true multi-entertainment venue,
featuring a video arcade, snack shop, billiards, lounge and
full-service Pro Shop.
The new bowling center will also feature a family-friendly
restaurant with an outdoor patio and seating area, perfectly suited
for hosting corporate events, receptions, and banquets. Patrons will
also be able to make reservations for private parties such as
birthdays, anniversaries, or family get-togethers. Similar to its
Sarasota counterpart, the center will offer special theme nights
such as "Cosmic Bowling," featuring colorful laser lights, music,
fog, and glow-in-the-dark lanes.
"Our goal has always been to create a family-friendly environment
that will offer something for everyone," said Dick Hubbard. "It
usually requires a population of 100,000 in a seven mile radius to
support a center of this size. Even though we’re a bit short of that
at this time, with the close proximity of schools, parks,
neighborhoods and other recreational complexes in the area, I’m
confident that our new bowling center will be the perfect fit for
Lakewood Ranch. We’ll be bringing an additional variety of family
activities to a growing community."

Construction on the new bowling and recreational center will begin
late 2007 with an anticipated opening of fourth quarter, 2007.
